Can I work in France as an international student?
As an international student, you have the right to work while studying in France as long as you have a resident permit. The right to work applies to all students, including students who come to France for the first time, registered in the first year of a university program, or registered full-time in a language school.
How many hours per week am I allowed to work?
You are allowed to work 20 hours maximum per week. However keep in mind that you part-time job salary won’t cover all your expenses as a student in France, so you must possess other means of support.
How much will I be paid?
France has a national minimum hourly wage, commonly known as the SMIC "Salaire Minimum Interprofessionnel de Croissance". It currently stands at 10.01 €/hour
What kind of student jobs can I apply for?
There are different types of student jobs that you can easily find online.
Babysitting: a lot of families hire students to look after their children after school and most of them appreciate hiring a foreign student who could speak to/teach their children in a foreign language. Ads are usually made in universities or online through agencies like Yoopla or Kangourou Kids.
University Campus: Universities’ recruitment section usually hires their own students for part time jobs such as promoting or guiding new students arriving in the campuses.
Hospitality work and supermarkets: Cafes, restaurants and supermarkets are always recruiting students for part-time jobs especially during the holidays, and some can even adapt to your classes’ schedule. So don’t hesitate to visit those places and hand in your resume!
